I was out of town this weekend for a wedding in Knoxville. Franklin Graves, the son of a very dear friend of mine (Lorrie Graves). She and I taught together at Moore Elementary. She is a treasure of a person and a very good momma! She has brought those boys up right!!!!
The wedding was held at First Baptist Church which is absolutely beautiful! The reception was held at Club LaConte which has a breathtaking view of all downtown Knoxville. It was just a perfect setting. It was such a joyous occasion however, I just about lost it when it was time to do the Mother/Son dance. As I sat and watched the face of my sweet friend looking at this young man, knowing what a bittersweet feeling this must be. So many things you want them to know, and not the words to say, especially in the time of one dance. From giving birth to that bundle of joy, midnight feedings, crawling, walking, skinned knees, birthdays, tball, soccer, hugs, kisses, late night movies and snacks, school, cars, girlfriends, graduation and now Marriage. Entrusting another woman to love this precious gift you have been blessed to raise.
When I arrived home, Graham came running in reaching into his pockets saying "Momma, look what I got for you today." As I looked down, he was pulling flowers out of both pockets. He had picked flowers for quite some time and probably had about 20. He said, "I picked you flowers because I love you." Yes, that totally melted my heart! I know someday he will have a wife he will be giving flowers to, but as for now, I am going to treasure every minute of being the only gal in his life!
This is a picture of all the beautiful flowers.
